Tech Talk - A Pragmatic Guide to Web Components

December 8, 2014

LinkedIn's engineering team builds state of the art systems and algorithms to connect the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. Up and down the stack, from best of class distributed systems like Apache Kafka to cutting edge mobile frameworks and uncompromising machine learning infrastructure, LinkedIn engineering solves the hardest, most rewarding problems in the industry.

We hold Technical Deep Dives to give a closer look at some of our critical infrastructure and share some of the best practices we've developed during more than a decade of building systems at Internet scale.

Web Components. The moment is upon us where we can encapsulate large amounts of code behind a single semantic tag. This Tech Talk will give a crash course on what Web Components are, how the current batch of JavaScript frameworks address the technology, and some good anti-patterns to avoid when building your own Web Components.

This event will also feature a collaborative session with LinkedIn's relevance engineers on the Economic Graph Challenge, LinkedIn's data sharing initiative to encourage researchers, academics and data-driven thinkers to solve some of the most challenging economic problems of our times.
