Deepak Agarwal named a 2014 Fellow of the American Statistical Association
May 28, 2014
There are times in life when we should take a pause, reflect and celebrate our accomplishments or those of others.
Today, we would like to invite you to celebrate such moment for one of our own, Deepak Agarwal, for being named a 2014 Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA). The ASA is the world’s largest community of statisticians and serves 18,000 members in the United States, Canada, and overseas. The ASA focuses on advancing research and promoting sound statistical practice to inform public policy and improve human welfare. Each year the ASA recognizes statisticians who have made outstanding contributions through research, teaching, consulting and service to the association and statistical profession.
The designation of ASA Fellow has been a significant honor for nearly 100 years. Fellows are initially peer nominated before undergoing a rigorous evaluation. Each year only up to 60 nominees are awarded this recognition. Deepak’s contributions to the areas of statistical modeling, machine learning, optimization and data analysis led to his nomination and selection.
Congratulations Deepak!
