Introducing the LinkedIn Scholars Program: Partnering with academia to solve real-world business challenges

At LinkedIn, our engineering teams are constantly working to keep the company at the cutting edge of innovation to deliver value for our members and customers. We recognize that many innovations are happening within academia and partnering more closely with them will strengthen our ability to research, ideate and accelerate the value we are able to deliver to our members and customers through technology.

That's why we're pleased to announce LinkedIn Scholars, a program that enables academics to work alongside LinkedIn's engineering teams to solve hard technical challenges and contribute to our vision of creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.

Through this program, Scholars will have the opportunity to bridge between theory and real-world applications by solving key technical challenges for LinkedIn’s business, with the flexibility that allows them to maintain their academic commitments. Areas of interest span across our Engineering teams, from large recommender systems, NLP, and more efficient deep learning algorithms to distributed systems, graph databases, and high performance compute. 

LinkedIn Scholars reinforces our commitment to building stronger relationships with academia, which also includes our recent partnership with the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Bowers CIS). As Kavita Bala, dean of Cornell Bowers CIS shared, “this exciting partnership advances our commitment to being an academic leader of innovation for all students and allows for unique research collaborations with a forward-thinking, global company.”
